
451 Marketing Enlisted to Support Mass. State Science Fair
Boston Marketing Firm 451 Marketing works with Pfizer for corporate giving program
Boston (October 12, 2005) 451 Marketing, a premier marketing and communications firm, has been enlisted to design and implement an online recruitment system to attract and retain judges for the Massachusetts State Science Fair (MSSF).
Funding for the system was provided by Pfizer as part of its corporate giving program. Pfizer Inc. discovers, develops, manufactures, and markets leading prescription medicines for humans and animals.
Now in its 56th year of promoting inquiry, excitement and fun in science and technology, the MSSF gives students throughout Massachusetts a special opportunity to compete for college scholarships, awards, honors programs, and other exciting prizes. Each year, young scientists from public, private and parochial schools (Grades 9-12) pursue specialized fields of science by working on individualized research projects, either as part of their core curriculum or through independent study.
MSSF had approached Pfizer to fund a much-needed initiative to create a Web-based recruitment portal, database, and interactive enrollment system for science fair judges, replacing a costly and time-consuming paper-based process. Pfizer, in turn, tapped 451 Marketing to implement the program because of its strategic, creative and technological strengths.
Now, instead of an annual letter-writing campaign to solicit science fair judges, 451 Marketing will make it possible for MSSF to automate its recruitment system, enabling email blasts to judges with links to an online contact database, which judges can update themselves. The system will make it easier for MSSF to communicate with judges throughout the year and more effectively engage and retain them.
Adam Thomas, associate director of human resources for Pfizer's Research & Technology Center, was responsible for spearheading Pfizer's support for this project.
